Work like a Horse

One of the special side-events of the European Championships is the Working as the Horse program. In the run-up to the European Championships, the existing program will be expanded to make even more connections between people and horses and of course with the city. Connected by Horsepower.

Origin Working as a Horse
In the summer of 2014 the project Working as a Horse started. At the request of Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb we started thinking about an activity for children from challenging neighborhoods. 'Working as a Horse Holiday School' was the result. Since then, more than 500 kids from group 5, 6, 7, and 8 have participated in our holiday school project with the central theme: If you work like a horse, you can achieve a lot.

Due to the success of this holiday school, the projects have been expanded; so that other target groups can experience how special it is to work with horses. There are now projects for children from challenging neighborhoods, children who need special education, children with cancer and children in crisis care or ambulatory youth care.

In the run-up to the European Championships, more activities will be organized. In January, for example, a new group will start for children who follow special education.
